BIG GIRL ROOM MAKEOVER: Hand-Painted Castle Mural

It finally happened. Gracie moved out of the nursery and into a ‘big girl’ room! We kept asking her how she wanted her new room to be decorated, and every time she said, “princesses!” I had decided that I wanted to paint a mural in her room (my mom and I painted murals in my room growing up and it’s such a cherished memory of mine), so I showed her a bunch of different options on Pinterest. She decided she wanted a castle and a tree with a dragon, which meant I had my work cut out for me!

After about a week of painting a few hours every day, the mural is finally done! I used a projector to trace the outline of the castle and dragon onto the wall with pencil, but other than that everything was done by hand. I do, however, want to give full credit to the person who painted the original castle and the original dragon–you can actually order personalized castle prints on Etsy.

Below are two time lapse videos that I took while I was painting. Ro makes several cameos! At the end of the post is a video of the whole mural. I can’t lie, I am pretty proud of how it turned out and Gracie seems to love it. She even named the dragon ‘Boo’ and the bunny, ‘Pink!’ Makes it all worth it.
